Headin' North
Headin' North

Took a sip of coffee as I drove down the road
The weather was cold outside
The caffeine I was counting on failed
And I felt my mood starting to slide
The offramp I was supposed to take
Well I just let it pass on by
Took a wrong turn and I just kept going
And I don't even understand why
Headin' North on the Interstate 5
Man I feel so free and so alive
You never guess that a part of me just died
If you see me smile, you know I lied
It seemed like I was standing still
As the pavement rolled under my tires
The more I put that pedal to the metal
The more I felt that fire
But darkness seemed to overcome me
As I aimlessly rambled through
Running from something I don't really know
Don't know what I'm running to
Headin' North on the Interstate 5
Man I feel so free and so alive
You never guess that a part of me just died
If you see me smile, you know I lied
Looking for the sun to break out of the clouds
Looking for a vision to see
Looking for a sign on the side of the road
Looking for a reason to be
Never looking back at the road left behind
Never looking at the road ahead
I don't need a reason and I don't need a cause
Just looking for a peaceful bed
And when I think of what's out there
My thoughts turn to shades of blue
I felt a tear running down the side of my face
But I keep on pushing through
Headin' North on the Interstate 5
Man I feel so free and so alive
You never guess that a part of me just died
If you see me smile, you know I lied
